Big things are happening in the Northern Cape! Kimberley will be hosting the international Maloof Money Cup (MMC), which is the biggest skateboarding championship in the world. Adrenalin junkies from around the world are expected to descend upon the small town of Kimberley for 3 days from Sep 30th - Oct 2nd 2011. This event will be broadcast internationally and is comprised of five different skateboarding events.
The Maloof Money Cup originated in Orange County in Los Angeles 2008. The topography and the extreme conditions of the Northern Cape make it an ideal destination for extreme sporting activities. This is huge for the Northern Cape and the event will hopefully encourage youths to start skateboarding.
