Hiker hounds explore the Krom River ( Kromrivier ) hike

The Krom River hiking trail is a breathtaking trail that follows the course of the Bobbejaan's river through the Limietberg Nature Reserve. The lower reaches of the river are popular for fishing, but that's for another blog post. The complete trail should take close to 5 hours and is best described as an intermediate trail.

There are rock pools teeming with fish and your long awaited trail ends of on a high note with a spectacular waterfall that should be reserved for the far reaches of a tropical jungle somewhere.

Take food, suntan lotion, swimming gear, mask and snorkel.
 

The Kromrivier hike in Limietberg, near Dutoitskloof pass,  is probably one of the best hiking trails in the Western Cape

Grade: According to guide books its intermediate. You have to be fit, but not super fit. There are chains which mark the way to the top waterfall. You do have to clamber over a few boulders.
Scenery: Fynbos and dense vegetation.
Getting there: There is a parking lot  just before the entrance to the Huguenot Tunnel. You need to go over  the old Dutoitskloof Pass.
Need to do: Access to the trail is restricted to those in possession of a permit from Cape Nature.
