I've only just found out about the "Harties" cable way. Being a Capetonian means I'm a bit slow to find out the latest happenings in South Africa. I'm very excited for my Jaaah'burg friends - they finally have their own functioning cable car, just like us Capetonians. The Harties cable way has been out of operation for over 7 years but has finally re-opened. These little rope-strung flying pods boast sweeping views of the Magaliesberg mountains and of course, the Hartbeespoort dam, which is a favourite weekend getaway for locals. Congrats Joburg comrades on a fantastic aerial cableway.
If you're heading to Jo'burg then drive through to the North-West Province and visit Hartbeespoort Dam for a bit of adventure and fun. It's about an hour's drive from Sandton. Enjoy hot air ballooning, para-sailing, jet-skiing and the De Wild Cheetah reserve and the awe-inspiring elephant sanctuary. Oh yes, and don't forget to take a ride on the cable-car...that's why you're reading this article.
